Die Anlage liegt in der N\u00e4he des 600-MW-Kohlekraftwerks Reuter-West in Berlin und soll im April 2023 in Betrieb gehen. Die W\u00e4rmeversorgung der Anlage kann etwa 13 Stunden dauern. Das Unternehmen erkl\u00e4rt: \u201eF\u00fcr uns ist das der beste Weg, unsere Berliner Kunden ohne den Einsatz fossiler Energietr\u00e4ger und mit guter Zukunftsperspektive mit W\u00e4rme zu versorgen.\u201c \u201eBei einem \u00dcberschuss an Windenergie kann diese \u00fcber eine Energieumwandlungsanlage dezentral in W\u00e4rme umgewandelt und in einem Puffer gespeichert werden.<\/p>\n

Die technischen Parameter des Lagertanks sind beeindruckend: 45 Meter hoch und ein Fassungsverm\u00f6gen von 56 Millionen Litern. Der Lagertank ist \u00fcber eine 400 Meter lange Rohrleitung mit vier Pumpen verbunden. Das Funktionsprinzip des Speichers ist ganz einfach: Er verdr\u00e4ngt kaltes Wasser von unten und f\u00fchrt \u00fcber Pumpen die gleiche Menge warmes Wasser von oben zu. Dadurch bleibt zwar das Gesamtwasservolumen im Tank gleich, das Mengenverh\u00e4ltnis von Warm- und Kaltwasser ver\u00e4ndert sich jedoch.<\/p>\n

Vattenfall hatte bereits Anfang Juli mit der Erstbef\u00fcllung des Speichers begonnen und dabei sowohl entsalztes als auch entgastes Wasser verwendet, um das Berliner Fernw\u00e4rmenetz zu schonen.<\/p>\n
