Im Jahr 2000 verabschiedete der Deutsche Bundestag das Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz (EEG), das eine 20-j\u00e4hrige F\u00f6rderdauer f\u00fcr Windkraftanlagen vorsah. Wegen dieser begrenzten F\u00f6rderdauer drohen derzeit viele Windr\u00e4der von der Stilllegung, obwohl diese noch immer Strom produzieren und technisch betrachtet noch lange Zeit problemlos betrieben werden k\u00f6nnten. Doch in 20 Jahren m\u00fcssen sich Windkraftbetreiber darauf einstellen, dass die Verg\u00fctung des erzeugten Stroms \u00fcber die sogenannte EEG-Umlage weitgehend entf\u00e4llt. Diese Abgabe wird auf die Stromrechnung des Endverbrauchers aufgeschlagen und soll den Bau von Wind- und Photovoltaikanlagen f\u00f6rdern. Im Juli 2022 soll die EEG-Umlage im Rahmen der Ampelpl\u00e4ne der Regierung aufgrund steigender Strompreise vollst\u00e4ndig abgeschafft werden. Danach will die Bundesregierung den Betreibern f\u00fcr einen begrenzten Zeitraum weiterhin Subventionen in abgestufter H\u00f6he zahlen.<\/p>\n<p>Nach dem Auslaufen der F\u00f6rderung m\u00fcssen die Betreiber von Windkraftanlagen deren Finanzierung \u00fcberwiegend aus dem B\u00f6rsenstrompreis bestreiten. Ein Weiterbetrieb der Anlagen lohnt sich oft nicht mehr, denn Windkraftanlagen in Deutschland m\u00fcssen nach 20 Betriebsjahren einer umfassenden \u00dcberpr\u00fcfung unterzogen werden, was zus\u00e4tzliche Kosten f\u00fcr die Betreiber bedeutet.<\/p>\n<p>Allerdings kann die Stilllegung \u00e4lterer Windkraftanlagen sinnvoll sein, wenn diese anschlie\u00dfend durch neuere, effizientere Modelle ersetzt werden: So verf\u00fcgen Windkraftanlagen aus den 1990er-Jahren beispielsweise \u00fcber eine Jahresleistung von rund 500\u2013800 Gigawatt, w\u00e4hrend die neuesten Anlagen 4\u20136 Megawatt pro Jahr erreichen. Dies bedeutet, dass heute eine neue Windkraftanlage sechs alte Anlagen ersetzen kann.<\/p>\n<p>Zum Gl\u00fcck lassen sich ausgediente Windr\u00e4der gut und gewinnbringend recyceln: Sie enthalten zu etwa 90 Prozent Rohstoffe wie Stahl, Kupfer und andere Edelmetalle, die eingeschmolzen und weiterverarbeitet werden k\u00f6nnen.
