Der Artikel \u201eN-Butanol Production by Rhodopseudomonas palustris TIE-1\u201c in der Fachzeitschrift Communications Biology pr\u00e4sentiert eine L\u00f6sung f\u00fcr das Problem: Durch genetische Modifizierung des Bakterienstamms TIE-1 Rhodopseudomonas palustris kann der Bakterienstamm zur Herstellung von Biokraftstoffen wie n-Butanol verwendet werden.<\/p>\n

Palustris-Bakterien besitzen auf nat\u00fcrliche Weise die F\u00e4higkeit, Kohlendioxid mithilfe einzelner freier Elektronen zu spalten. Dieser Effekt kann durch genetische Modifikation um das 200-fache verst\u00e4rkt werden, indem man die Mikroben dazu zwingt, nur die notwendigen Substanzen zu synthetisieren. Wissenschaftler schlagen vor, eine Technologie zu entwickeln, bei der Bakterienkolonien auf Elektroden platziert werden, die an Solarmodule angeschlossen sind. Auf diese Weise wird Kohlendioxid aus der Atmosph\u00e4re entfernt und die erzeugte Energie ist ressourcenschonend und kostenlos.
