In Deutschland und anderen mitteleurop\u00e4ischen L\u00e4ndern sind die Insektenpopulationen in den letzten 30 Jahren stark zur\u00fcckgegangen: Laut der neuesten Studie zu diesem Thema im Fachmagazin PLOS ONE sind \u00fcber einen Untersuchungszeitraum von 27 Jahren etwa 75 Prozent der fliegenden Insekten verschwunden. Als Hauptursache f\u00fcr das massenhafte Insektensterben sehen Forscher die intensive Landwirtschaft, die \u00fcberwiegend Monokulturen anbaut und Insektizide, Pestizide und D\u00fcngemittel einsetzt. Auch das Verschwinden bl\u00fchender Wiesen und Feldr\u00e4nder versch\u00e4rfe das Problem, sagen Experten.<\/p>\n

Fliegende Insekten sind f\u00fcr die Artenvielfalt nicht nur deshalb wichtig, weil sie V\u00f6geln und anderen Tieren als Nahrung dienen, sondern auch, weil sie Nutzpflanzen best\u00e4uben und so die wachsende Weltbev\u00f6lkerung ern\u00e4hren. Sch\u00e4tzungsweise sind domestizierte und wilde Bienen f\u00fcr 80 % der Best\u00e4ubung weltweit verantwortlich.<\/p>\n

Gl\u00fccklicherweise gibt es bereits einige ehrenamtliche Initiativen, die sich mit der L\u00f6sung dieses Problems befassen: Im \u00f6sterreichischen Bundesland Steiermark wurde 2016 das Projekt \u201eBEEwusstseinsbildung am Schulhof\u201c zur bienenfreundlichen Pflege des Schulgartens ins Leben gerufen. Auch an Schulen in Deutschland gibt es seit mehreren Jahren \u00e4hnliche Initiativen.<\/p>\n

In diesen Projekten k\u00f6nnen Sch\u00fclerinnen und Sch\u00fcler praxisnah etwas \u00fcber das Leben der Bienen und den Nutzen der Insekten lernen. Wesentlicher Bestandteil der Aktion ist die Aufstellung von vorgefertigten Insektenhotels im Klassenzimmer.<\/p>\n

Wer in seinem Schulgarten oder auf dem Pausenhof Wildbienen, Hummeln oder Schmetterlingen einen Lebensraum bieten m\u00f6chte, kann ebenfalls mit der Anlage einer insektenfreundlichen Blumenwiese einen Beitrag leisten. Bienen m\u00f6gen besonders Stockrosen, G\u00e4nsebl\u00fcmchen, Glockenblumen und g\u00e4ngige K\u00fcchenkr\u00e4uter wie Lavendel, Salbei, Oregano und Thymian.<\/p>\n
