Online event for the opening of the project “Solar schools” in the gymnasium №36 in Krasnodar

On October 16, 2020, the opening of the project "Solar schools" at PASCH high school №36 in Krasnodar took place in an online format. Present were representatives of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Russia, the city and regional administration, the project organizers – the "ideas into energy gGmbH" and the initiative "Schools – Partners of the Future" (PASCH) of the Goethe-Institut in Moscow, representatives of the non-profit partnership "EUROSOLAR Russia" as well as the school management, teachers and students.

Krasnodar is particularly suitable for the project: thanks to the climate transition from mild continental to subtropical, the average annual temperature in Krasnodar is +13.4 °C and solar irradiation reaches an average of 3.5 kWh/m2. Krasnodar is regularly placed at the top of the rankings of sunniest cities in Russia. Now the project has officially started in the high school.

The first part of the event was the official opening, where the project "Solar schools" was presented. All the education officials present pointed out the high importance of the "Renewable Energy" topic both for the gymnasium and for the whole region.

The second part of the event was a digital quiz for children on the topic of solar energy, using the smartphone application Actionbound, in which students from both high schools and the German teachers participated. In this part of the event, the system and the application were presented to visualize the work of the solar system and the students had the opportunity to watch an educational film on the topic of solar energy. Afterwards, the students took part in an exciting online quiz and checked their physics knowledge and especially their knowledge on the topic of solar energy.
