School No. 52 in Tbilisi
School No. 52, with a rich history, was founded in 1962 and is located in the heart of the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Currently (2024), 1,711 students attend the school with 100 experienced teachers.
Since 2008, intensive German language training from the 3rd grade onwards has been a special feature of the school. The school is recognised as a DSD (“Deutsches Sprachdiplom”) school, which confirms its status as a centre for German culture and language in the region. The school management, dedicated teachers and professional support from German colleagues and local organisations enliven many aspects of school life. In addition, there are numerous projects such as the “German Language Week” and participation in Georgian and German competitions for the pupils.
Since 2014, the school has been organising the national final of the “Lesefüchse International” project. Pupils from the school have already won twice as national winners and taken part in the international competition final in Berlin. Since 2009, the school has organised an intellectual puzzle for pupils learning German, which takes place in the botanical garden. The pupils are also actively involved in the project “School journalists for the Caucasian Post”, which is supported by the editorial office of the German-language newspaper in Georgia and the Central Office for Schools Abroad.
