Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers
The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1923 as the Hydro Technical Engineering department under Turkistan State University in the Soviet Union. In its early years, the university produced graduates in agronomy and water conservation. In 1929, the department merged with another institution, resulting in the creation of the Central Asian Cotton Irrigation Polytechnic University.
In 1934, the Central Asian Cotton Irrigation Polytechnic University merged with the Central Asian Institute of Agricultural Industry Irrigation and Mechanization, leading to the formation of the Tashkent Institute of Agricultural Industry Irrigation and Mechanization. Initially, the institute had two faculties focused on Hydro Melioration and Mechanization.
After Uzbekistan gained independence, efforts were made to translate textbooks into the Uzbek language, and classes began to be taught in the native language. In 2004, the institute was renamed the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration. Subsequently, in 2017, it was given its current name, the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers.
Today, the institute comprises five faculties with 30 departments, boasting a faculty of 353 professors and teachers, and catering to over 4,860 students.
