According to calculations by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), renewable energies (RE) could employ around 42 million people worldwide by 2050. In 2019, around 11.5 million people were employed globally in RE; in solar energy alone the figure was almost 4 million. Experts expect increased demand for skilled workers there in the coming years as solar energy systems are currently the cheapest form of energy generation. By 2030 the number of jobs in RE could already reach the 30 million mark, with both job restructuring due to the continued phase-out of fossil fuels and new job creation factored into the forecast.

In the project ENABLING PV, specialists for the planning and installation of solar systems are already being trained at some vocational schools in Russia. More vocational schools will be added in 2021. In addition, several Russian universities are networking with teaching content in the field of RE and solar energy.
