European PV installed capacity increased by 34 % in 2021

SolarPower Europe has published a report forecasting the development of the photovoltaic industry in the European Union for the period 2021-2025.

The authors calculated that the growth of the European PV market this year was 34% stronger than last year. With 25.9 GW of newly installed photovoltaic capacity, a new record growth would have been achieved. Germany is the European leader with 5.3 GW of newly installed PV capacity, followed by Spain and the Netherlands. The total installed photovoltaic capacity in Europe has increased to 164.9 GW. Germany is currently the leader here with 59 GW, followed by Italy and Spain. In terms of installed PV capacity per capita, however, the Netherlands leads the way.

The new record exceeds the forecast of 2021 made in the previous version of the EU Market Outlook by about 16%. SolarPower Europe expects the market to continue to grow in the coming years.
