Solar Universities seminar “Grids of the future” for universities in Central Asia and the Caucasus
On 16 March 2023, ideas into energy gGmbH hosted a seminar for professors and students in Central Asia and the Caucasus, covering the role of grid modernisation in the renewable energy transition with a specific focus on the region. Grid infrastructure in Central Asia and the Caucasus is often out-dated, representing one of the main obstacles of the countries on their road towards a green future. The seminar formed the second session of the Solar Universities seminar series on the global energy transition, launched in February 2023, and includes 8 thematic seminars on key aspects of the energy transition and the accompanying challenges within the specific context of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
The seminar, led by Prof. emer. Alexander Kiryuchin, was attended by professors and students from universities of a wide range of countries, including Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Our next Solar Universities seminar will take place in April 2023 and specifically address the status quo as well as the potential for the large-scale employment of solar energy within the region.
