Start of the „Solar schools“ project in Kazakhstan
High school №46 in Nur-Sultan has become the first solar school in Kazakhstan. The project "Solar Schools " has now started in Central Asia after the inclusion of seven schools in Russia. On May 26, 2021, the ceremonial inauguration of the photovoltaic system was held at Gymnasium №46, partner school of the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA), in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan. Due to the pandemic this took place with a reduced number of participants but undiminished commitment from the participants and organizers after it was originally planned for October 2020.
The German Ambassador in Kazakhstan, Dr. Tilo Klinner, performed the symbolic cutting of the ribbon in the presence of 10th and 11th grade students as well as the school principal Roza Kaskabaeva and other selected guests. Christoph Urbschat, Oxana Siegert and Tatiana Andreeva, from ideas into energy gGmbH and eclareon GmbH, participated in the event via live broadcast from Berlin. The students punctuated the official part of the event with a creative programme on the topic of sustainability, including items such as a "green sun commercial". The main person responsible for the implementation of the project at School №46, Ms. Berna Budur (Student Council Advisor – ZfA Bonn) expressed her sincere thanks to all the contributors to the project and co-organizers of the event for their efforts. Dr. Tilo Klinner, praised the project as an important step in achieving a rethinking of the energy industry in Kazakhstan through education.
