Street lights

Some areas are so far from the power grid that connecting these streetlights to the central power grid would be too expensive.

These streetlamps are equipped with small solar panels and small batteries, so that they can store electricity during the day and light up at night.

Photovoltaics is therefore sometimes the much more cost-effective alternative than the connection of an area to the power grid.
