First floating solar power plant installed in Russia

Hevel Group has completed the construction of the first floating solar power plant in Russia, built on the reservoir at the Nizhne-Bureyskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Far Eastern Amur Oblast on the Bureya River. The solar power plant will cover the hydropower plant's own needs, enabling an increase in usable electricity generation. The annual output of the solar plant is estimated at 54,000 kWh. Currently the project is in pilot operation.

There are 140 solar modules mounted on pontoon floats covering 475 m2. The flexibility of the system is ensured by a special connection scheme of the floating modules and is designed to withstand wave action and water level differences of several meters.

The special design of the floating pontoons shortened the construction time and increases mobility; the PV system can be dismantled and relocated to any part of the reservoir at any time.
