School No. 60 in Tashkent

The state Goethe School No. 60 is located in the centre of Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan. With 2371 students and 125 teachers (as of 2024), the school plays a very important role as an educational institution in the region.

Since 1962, School No. 60 has specialised in teaching a range of subjects in German. In 1995, the school was certified and recognised as a linguistic grammar school. In 1996, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan examined and approved the experience of the secondary school. In accordance with Decree No. 12-2 of the MES Directorate of 27.12.1996, the Republican Language Training Centre was established on the basis of Linguistic Gymnasium No. 60 in cooperation with the German Central Agency for School Education Abroad (ZfA) to prepare students of the city of Tashkent and the Republic of Uzbekistan for the German language exam “Sprachdiplom”.

For 27 years, school has been the language centre for the preparation of students for the international language diploma, which provides sufficient knowledge of German for further studies at German universities and serves as a solid basis for the preparation of highly qualified personnel with German language skills at level C1 according to European standards.
