Study: Rising demand for photovoltaics from the Russian economy

Specialists from "Smart Energy" have determined the demand for solar power in the Russian economy for the period from October 1, 2010 to September 1, 2021. According to the study, the capacity of built solar power plants more than doubled from 20.2 MW to 45.2 MW within the period 2020 to 2021.

Reasons for the sharp increase in demand for solar installations include the high cost of electricity tariffs for businesses, more affordable solar installations, shorter payback periods and the possibility of feeding surpluses into the Russian grid as of this year. Estimates from "Smart Energy" suggest that electricity prices for Russian businesses have doubled since 2015. As a result, commercial property owners are increasingly opting to install photovoltaic systems.
